AboutUs

Hi! My name is Sergio. I’m an engineer who was taught to work in the fields from a very young age. Even though I’m from the city, my father took me with him since I was a child to learn what today has become part of our profession: agriculture. I grew up surrounded by animals and crops, confident that this would be my future.

Over the years, after graduating from university, I began building my career. I planted mango, rice, corn, among other crops. I learned from various partnerships and jobs, always tied to agriculture, and I experienced firsthand the art of farming with its ups and downs.

That cyclical nature we farmers all have to live through in order to learn. Doing the math on how much we expect to earn. Mentally spending the money before it comes in. Only to end up harvesting and being grateful, because really, it could have been worse. And of course, there are those rare moments when everything aligns, the stars play in your favor, and you manage to sell at the best price with a great yield. That’s farming.

It’s been nearly ten years since I planted my first seed. I’ve been lucky to be a curious person, and during this time I’ve learned engineering and even more agronomy.

A while later, I started a project aimed at maximizing the productivity of my crops. To do that, I needed something to help me get organized. Something that would not only let me manage my accounts more easily than Excel or pen and paper, but also allow me to learn, to create, to innovate.

I needed a tool to help me understand and keep track of the compounds in my supplies. What they’re made of. How they act. Something that would let me record where I applied each input, when, and how. Why one crop performed well and another didn’t. A tool that could help me analyze climate trends and determine if the weather is truly changing in my region. And if it is, how it’s happening.

I needed something to manage staff and daily tasks. In short, I needed a solution to better integrate technical knowledge with agricultural activity. And to make that happen, I had to digitize my real-world data.

That’s why I created Dacrop. A tech company for agriculture that lets me express my curiosity and boost my productivity.

Time has passed, and it hasn’t been easy. I’ve built everything on my own while still managing my day-to-day farm work. Taking an idea from concept to a final, real, and functional product is not as easy as I thought. But it’s not impossible either.

Today I look at what I’ve built and I can’t help but feel proud. I know I’ve created something practical and useful. Not just for me, but for many others. I know this because during this journey, I’ve had the chance to speak with and listen to many farmers. And I’ve realized we all face the same problems and seek the same thing. An organized and productive business.

We want control over everything. Supplies, fuel, purchases, sales, logistics, labor. Everything. And I know this because I am a farmer too. I live off this. I know what’s needed. I know what works.

There may be more options in the market. There surely are. And no doubt some of them are very good. But I know that none of them reflect my personal experience. That’s why I can confidently say we’re not competing with anyone. We are simply here to build the most functional and practical product for farmers. For us, the users.

I wish I could move faster. Add more features. Display more data. There’s so much to do, but it will all come in time. The Dacrop team is small. I am the only employee. But don’t worry. This allows me to move quickly while I shape the concept. Iterate. Test. Solve problems without red tape. No hierarchy. No permissions. No meetings. Just time to bring the idea to life. Plus, because of this, I can offer you the best price. My costs are minimal ☺️.

We are just getting started, and I know there is plenty to improve. There are things I still need to adjust, but each day we are a little better than the day before. I promise you’ll like it, and it will work for you. Because I’m working, and will keep working, to make sure of it. I want to understand the problems. And there are many. Pests, ineffective products, weather, seeds, even theft in some parts of the world. Everything has a solution. We’re going to tackle it. One by one. Little by little.

So I invite you, yes you, reading this, to give Dacrop a try. Your support will truly help me 🙂 And if you do try it, please share your experience so we can keep improving. You’re going to love it!
